As a technology of the future, we can't exhaust all there is to this feat of manufacturing. Ever thought of a growing ship or one that could auto-replace worn-out components? 3D is key!
I just read a post about 3D printing on Mars and that it will be key to surviving and building on Mars. It will be pretty cool to see what they are able to do with 3D printing over the next decade.
Reacently, we also discuss the top whether 3D printing will be a threat to CNC. As you know, in some exhibition, some guys have already use 3D printing to print a car! It is a real car! Just couldn't believe it.
3D printing is excellent for some things. It also has a tremendous amount of hyperbole attached: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/3d-printing-future-steven-weinberg
