Maybe this is something that Elon Musk might get involved in at some point? He has created a great system for Tesla cars with constant improvements being rolled out. Whether we like it or not autonomous travel is going to be a big part of the future.

I think the idea of autonomous shipping is great - using radar and satellite navigation the autonomous AI would be able to adjust the course, before, during and after bouts of bad weather. If large crews were not required for these ships this might have a long term knock on effect to the cost of goods and services - lower long term costs would surely lead to lower end costs to consumers. Now that would get consumers interested - saving money!

Yeah, any way to lower costs is sure to be a winner!

Elon Musk does some great things but he does seem to be going off the rails a little recently. For example, with the Tweets about taking Tesla public that he got into trouble for, and also with the Twitter spat he got into with that British diver who rescued the Thai boys that were stuck in that cave (and Elon Musk is now being sued, after calling out the guy for not suing him!).
What is it with famous people getting in trouble on Twitter!?

Elon Musk has had a massive rap on the knuckles and resigned as CEO of the company. Hopefully he will be left in a locked room to do what he does best, new technology, and keep away from social media.

While markets have been volatile, there has been a marked recovery in the share price since he was pushed into the background:-
