Would you like a great opportunity working in our Mechanical Designer discipline on complex submarine platforms? We currently have a number of opportunities for Mechanical Designers at varying levels at our site in Barrow-in-Furness. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be carrying out 3D modelling (design and integration) of various pipe routing systems within the submarine design using CAD. The 3D models are then to be matured, as required, to then produce a 2D drawing output. The role also involves construction of a bill of materials for your specific area in the submarine design. This role will provide you with the challenge of working with the stakeholder group to drive the successful resolution of design vs spatial problems with the production of 3D models and 2D drawing outputs to cost and schedule. Future career progression could include Principal Designer or leadership roles within the team. These roles also offer paid overtime, subject to business requirements. Your main responsibilities as a Mechanical Designer will involve: Using the CAD tool to produce 3D models and mechanical equipment integration Producing 2D drawing outputs to a demanding schedule to support the manufacturing and production teams in product build and delivery Developing and maintaining working relationships with interfacing teams and team members Working with the client to produce an integrated design that meets their expectations and agreed set of requirements Your skills and qualifications as a Mechanical Designer: Essential Skills: Previous experience within a Mechanical/Piping Designer/Draughtsperson role Experience and knowledge of a CAD package Desirable Skills: Submarine or ships product knowledge Understanding of CAD modelling techniques What we're looking for in you: You will be a proactive individual and possess a resolute approach to problem-solving whilst having the ability to communicate with various stakeholders at all levels.
