      At BAE Systems we currently have vacancies for Mechanical Engineers to work across a number of projects. As one of our mechanical engineers, you could get to work on the Type 45 Destroyers, Type 26 Frigates and the Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carriers.

      You will develop and utilise your engineering expertise within a highly skilled team, supported by experts in areas such as power and propulsion, auxiliary systems, and HVAC.

      We currently have vacancies for a range of levels within the team, so whether you are newly qualified with a small amount of experience within your field, or if you are a highly experienced, chartered engineer, you will be able to find your perfect role.

      Your main responsibilities as a Mechanical Engineer will involve:

      • Creating solutions to agreed time, cost and quality to meet project or business milestones
      • Conducting activities including feasibility studies, research, design, development and post design services to meet requirements
      • Drafting, vetting and editing technical reports or other documents to ensure that technical findings can be successfully communicated with recipients
      • Preparing and submitting technical proposals and tenders as directed by bid manager in order to provide costed proposals for future work
      • Ensuring integration with other engineering functions involved with a particular programme of work to ensure all aspects of the electro-mechanical system design are considered
      • Liaison with MOD establishments, test facilities, sub-contractors and customers as required to satisfy the needs of project or the business
      • When appropriate, the supervision of undergraduates or young persons assigned for training to assist in the development of their knowledge and skills

      Your skills and qualifications as a Mechanical Engineer:

      You will be qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
      Experience with design/ integration of mechanical systems is essential.

      Your skills and qualifications as a Mechanical Engineer will ideally include:

      Professional registered status such as Chartered Engineer (CEng)and experience working on marine platforms and systems.

      BAE Systems actively encourages and supports applications from employees to gain registered status.

      We are looking for a strong team player. You must be comfortable interacting with subject matter experts, and other engineering departments, depending on what system and platform you are working on at the time. Excellent communication and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders is a must to succeed in this role.

      Salary: Competitive
