I need to pick a topic for my Systems Engineering class project. I thought maybe I could get some good ideas from this forum. What I'm looking for is a "need" that could be solved by one of several "systems" of some sort. For example, Need: "New mode of transportation for Batman" Possible systems: Car Jet Car/jet combination A strategically arranged system of catapults A serious example, Need: "Removal of orbiting space debris" Possible systems: Launch shuttle with a autonomous robot to collect debris Ground based laser to vaporize debris Space based laser to vaporize debris It doesn't necessarily have to be an "engineery" type of problem. Any ideas? Thanks!
In the light of the severe weather that all countries around the world are experiencing these days - and the terrible consequence that the people are experiencing, typhoons, hurricanes, flooding, etc, and the massive financial as well as human costs - then it might be time to have a look at geo-engineering. So you could have a look at geo-engineering - see a couple of links below to get you going. Professor Stephen Salter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_reflectivity_enhancement Physicist Alan Gadian http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8214045.stm Hope this is of some help.
Thanks for the suggestion. I checked it out, very interesting. I decided to go with the need to reclaim waste heat energy in automobiles.
