I'm involving with designing with using CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission). But since it is a topic that is great with large size (for cars), or small size (machine tools, or some sub -hp vehicles). Anyone knows anything about CVT manufacturers that i can contact for more info? I'm find with a website in Chinese or English. Some golf cart CVT may work, but I don't seem to find any manufacturers. I've been searching for weeks now. Any help will be very appreciative.
I build 10 HP Baja buggies, we have used CVT's from: CVTech http://www.cvtech-ibc.com/?idLang=2 Gaged Engineering http://www.gagedengineering.com/dgx6.html Comet (Can't find a link, but worth googling.) The Gaged are high end, very sexy, and cost about $1000. CVTech is more affordable, and worked fine for many years.
Have a look at www.hi-lo.com - they make variable transmision systems based on variable diameter pulleys with either fixed centres or moving centres. I used something similar back in the 80's to drive an electric race car powered by 2 x 12v batteries. Our driver had to manually move the motor and driving pulley to "change gear" and must have lost several pounds during the race! Good luck John
Wow. Awesome, Guys! I just got back from a retreat and I've already seen some awesome replies. I'll take a look at them all and will ask more questions. Thank you guys a lot!
