I'm investigating using Delcam for solid models from Solidworks and UG-NX. Since both programs export parasolid format, on paper they would seem a good fit. Since I'm just beginning my investigation, I'm interested in general and specific experiences of users. Are results consistent from each system? By that I mean for an identical parasolid model from each, are the CAM outputs identical, or very similar? Other general comments are also welcome. Marc
Hi Marc, I can help you only on the SolidWorks-portion of the question. Delcam recently announced a new product called Delcam for SolidWorks. You can take a look here. The product is with a SolidWorks gold partner status, which means complete integration in the SolidWorks interface, synchronized versions, same files etc. As I know DFS combines technologies both from Delcam's PowerMill and FeatureCAM products. It seems the best option for SolidWorks users with CAM-needs.
Hi Ananchev, Thanks for your feedback, it's always good to hear from you. As the next step to evaluation, I'm looking for experiences using the software and wondered about any negative features. For example, does Delcam have glitches with certain features in SW or NX? Are there some root causes that have been found for these problems? And how do these problems manifest themselves during part machining? What are workarounds for problems? So you get the idea, I'm looking for some definite hands-on experiences.
