      Hi All,

In my work team we are using various softwares like Pro/e, Solidworks, Inventor, Unigraphics for supoorting our design activity.

We are using parametric modeling technique (family table/design table/configuration/imate,i assemblies/part families) using the above softwares.

Is it possible to do family table/ Design table option in Unigraphics NX 7.5? I understand we need to adopt part families option for doing the part level familiy table/ Design table. I would like to know what is the option to link the part level families in assembly and how to do the assembly level family table/design table?

      Could someone help on this?

      Regards
      Karthik

      Hi,

Yes, there is a solution if you have the right design intent in mind. With NX, Part Family Tables are typically used for common types of parts, but only vary in size. Fasteners - screws, bolts, etc. are common products that work well with Part Family Tables.

ProE, SolidWorks also have similar, but different applications to make variations of the same type of part.

If you are working with various CAD applications, I would suggest keeping the whole CAD project in the application started with. When attempting to convert from one CAD application to another (such as NX to ProE), parametrics will be lost.

I'm not sure what your design intent is, so I can't fully answer. I hope the above helps a little bit.

    5. Hello All,

i used to use family tables with NX. I use it to design different design steps of a product or assembly. Therefore we also make nested assemblies.
For instance, we have a metal bended wire. In a later processtep, this wire will be cut and deformed. Each of this stages is looked after with a family table, because we want this part to be found under the same number in all process steps.

We use all of this family table members agian in other assemblies, where we also create family tables.

      Hi Lieve,

Thanks for the message. Could you send me the process of nested family procedure to my mail ID: [email protected].

      Thanks
      Karthik
