Internships are always vital to a mechanical engineer's career, to sculpt your ability and enhance your proficiency.

      Well; frankly speaking, IT DEPENDS.
Speaking in terms of employment: Whether you want a Core or Non Core profile as your career.

Considering you want a Core Job; following can be considered as good option:
1.You can look for job in companies like Tata Motors, Mahindra, Hero, Siemens, Bosch, etc.
      2. jobs in PSU’s like ONGC, NTPC, Coal India, Power Gris, etc.
3.This option is something which many people less likely opt to purse. Higher education after Bachelors. You can consider doing MS abroad or M-Tech at any IIT/NIT/Private institution like VIT, Manipal Institute, etc.

If you want to pursue career in Non-Core; then this career path might be good for you:
1.Get job at companies like Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KMPG, etc.
2.Mostly people tend to work for 2–3 years and then go for an MBA degree at IIM or any private college. Getting an MBA at any good college provides you a platform for job opportunities at big consultancies firms like Mckinsey and Company, Boston Consultancy, etc; Management profile jobs at any high revenue corporation.

This Career is something which attracts people from all field: Governments Job
Its something; I don’t think, I need to explain.
Government Job: UPSC exams like IAS, IES, etc
