Success for HSSMI is seen as providing you with the skills and support to allow you to license IP or start your own technology or manufacturing business in the future.

      You will be contributing to application engineering and research within one or more of the following themes:

      [/FONT]Product and Process Validation [FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]– CAP for machining, Discrete Event Simulation, Predictive Experimentation of Manufacturing Systems, ‘Make Like Production, production facilities, Real time code and human/machine interface generation. [/FONT][/FONT]

      Manufacturing Supply Chain Integration
      [FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]– Traceability, next generation product and process tracking, birth and use history, logistics optimisation. [/FONT][/FONT]

      Sustainable UK Manufacturing

      The aim of HSSMI is to deliver a step-change in UK manufacturing business effectiveness by integrating state of the technologies from leading industrial organisations into high volume manufacturing processes. Under the HSSMI programme companies wishing to benefit from research will be able to subscribe to the organisation on a graduated scale. HSSMI will operate as a not for profit organisation and will be a central research hub supporting high value manufacturing skills across the industry spectrum. This cutting edge institute is formed by a consortium of partners including Ford, Loughborough University, the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME) where the institute will be based.

      The role will require you to author manufacturing research proposals to secure Industrial and Public funding for approved research projects; deal with contract negotiation and financial allocation with research collaborators; lead advanced manufacturing research themes using or developing appropriate methods and techniques; take ownership for your research delivery and output. You will also be involved in the production of high quality research reports and publications and the development and deployment of commercialisation plans.

      You will hold a PhD or have extensive and nationally recognised professional expertise in Manufacturing Engineering. You will have demonstrable experience of developing and executing research projects with a passion to deliver commercial outcome and generate IP. The ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines is essential. Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication and strong networking skills with the focus to achieve future funding.

      In return for providing HSSMI with your experience, entrepreneurial spirit, strong leadership ability and proactive and flexible approach you will receive a salary within the banding of £34-37K and a competitive benefits package. In order to fulfil this full-time position in Rainham, Essex you will be based within easy commuting distance.
