Just for clarity, lily-chang and dwmartin67 are not talking about a SolidWorks product, correct? I wish I had more info on SolidWorks Plastics for you. I really would like to hear from someone who has experience with it. My company recently paid to have some simulation work done with AutoDesk MoldFlow. As I reported, the output was very impressive. However I can see where it would have been good if we had something like SolidWorks Plastics so that we could have taken the first "rough cut" at our part design. If anyone knows of any demo video using SolidWorks Plastics, I would be interested in seeing it. I recently tried the demo version of Simpoe. The demo version only shows the part filling, but it seems it would be sufficient for predicting the cold front/nit line locations. The full version opens up a lot more analysis capabilities, like analyzing part shrinkage/warpage, etc.
Kevin, Sorry to be late to the party. Are you still evaluating SW Plastics and have all of your questions been answered? I will be happy to provide more info if needed. Best regards, Jonathan
Jonathan Yes I have enough info for right now. Thanks to everyone for your input. I have to dig a little deeper into SW Plastics demos and on-line videos to see how difficult it is to use.
