      If I were to build a laptop or desktop what all do I need to protect my design from being copied or stolen, parts and all?? Thank you.

      Protection comes in two forms, Copyright and Patent. Neither prevents anyone from stealing your work. It just gives you the legal standing to sue somebody if they do steal your work. So save a big chunk of your settlement for lawyers.

      A strong branding will protect you from idea theft. You must have a trademark that may protect a word, logo, symbol, or design that can identify that you are the creator of that product.

      What exactly are you trying to protect about your computer - the spec (not sure that's possible to protect), or the look of it?
