      Our Client, a leader in store fixture design and manufacturing located in the east end of Scarborough, Ontario is looking to hire a Mechanical Design / CNC Punch Programmer. The company produces a large variety of store fixtures and displays for the gas retailing industry, convenience and retail stores. The products are functional and aesthetic at the same time.

      Position Summary:

      As a member of the Mechanical Engineering Team, the incumbent will be responsible for designing sheet metal products, wooden and plastic assemblies and subassemblies. You will be involved with the design work which is performed using SolidWorks and will interface with manufacturing, sales and other internal groups. The primary role for Mechanical Design / CNC Punch Programmer will be to take Customer drawings and other relevant information to develop shop drawings, create CNC programs and costing data in a timely fashion to meet the customers’ requirements, according to established procedures.
      Responsibilities:

      • Design products and components in sheet metal and wood
      • Create shop drawings, BOM’s, develop and modify CNC programs for CNC punch presses
      • Using standard production methods and rate, along with supplied material cost, prepare cost estimates of special products
      • Prepare or arrange the manufacture of samples and or proto-types
      • Develop equipment installation guides
      • Work together with Production Supervisors to ensure efficient material utilization and to meet the production schedule
      • Maintain existing computer programs by making modifications as required
      • Identify and communicate technical problems, processes and solutions
      • Continuous Improvement - Improving existing operations, incorporating new methods and processes and identifying ways to reduce production costs
      • Communicate with suppliers and sales
      • Order tooling and spare parts
      • Provide general information to internal team members
      • Maintain a safe and clean work environment

      Qualifications:

      • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, minimum 3-years’ experience
      • Experience in a fast paced production environment
      • Minimum of 3-years’ experience mechanical design with sheet metal / 2 years’ experience in CNC punch programming
      • MS Office, Word, Excel
      • Experience with AutoCAD and FabriWin preferred
      • Knowledge of methods fabrication processes needed. Store fixture manufacturing experience an asset
      • Post-secondary diploma from a technical college and / or university
      • Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and propose practical solutions.
      • Able to work effectively within a team atmosphere.
      • Flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to give and receive feedback at all levels are required.
      • Strong management, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to navigate and work through challenges with a positive attitude.
      • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work unsupervised.
      • Strong organization skills and teamwork values.
