      My client is a leading nuclear company and they are looking for a number of Mechanical Design Engineers for their UK based offices.

      Staff Position / Nuclear experience a must / preferrably SC Cleared / permitted to work in the UK

      About the role

      You'll be responsible for the detailed design and specification of mechanical plant and equipment, including pressure vessels, pumps and valves, for new nuclear reactors. With involvement extending through development and testing to through-life support, you'll substantiate component design (including stress, fatigue and fracture analysis), liaise with suppliers and undertake risk assessments in accordance with UK legislation. Specifically, we have a need for people with significant working knowledge in Pressure Vessel Design to ASME III, Reactor Fuel Handling, Heat Exchanger Design and Pump design for fluid systems.


      About you

      With a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, you'll have a comprehensive understanding of component design and the standards required in the nuclear environment. Skilled in capturing requirements, developing solutions and describing the impact of design decisions on cost and manufacture, you'll have sound knowledge of structural integrity and failure analysis. Membership of an engineering professional institute would be an advantage.
