Duties:Provide scientific research, analysis, and design in the areas of mechanical engineering. Research appropriate materials for sensor system package design Improve system mechanical designs using state-of-the-art, commercial and custom components Analyze and develop improved packaging of electronic assemblies and hardware kitting/ stowage Conduct mechanical analyses and develop alternative designs to evaluate and improve sensor system packaging Research designs to improve system environmental survivability, reliability, size, weight, and cost Design sensor packages using CAD software Create design concepts for sensor system packaging Execute rapid prototyping of novel sensor system packages Employ 3-D printing for sensor system components Develop fixtures and test procedures for environmental evaluation of systems including temperature cycling, shock, vibration and immersion Support prototyping of systems to be assembled in-house or at vendor fabrication facilities Prepare, update and maintain Technical Data Packages (TDPs) for sensor systems Travel to various facilities to support field tests, experiments and demonstrations Provide technical input for program reviews and support technical and programmatic briefings Provide monthly reports summarizing current program accomplishments & goals Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Work Experience: Minimum of 30 years as a Mechanical Engineer with significant experience in mechanical design, prototype fabrication, testing and evaluation Mechanical analyses in the areas of stress, tolerance, performance, materials, reliability, environmental and system responses Mechanical design, prototype fabrication and evaluation of novel sensor system packaging AutoCAD software use to include SolidWorks, ANSYS, PRO-E and AutoCAD Prepare and interpret Technical Data Packages (TDP’s) to include drawings, parts lists, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)/Notices and Quality Assurance Provisions Mechanical fabrication and production manufacturing processes Proposal generation for mechanical designs and prototypes Assembly processes including soldering, cabling, machining, plating, and finishing Location: Adelphi, MD Clearance: Secret Apply Online: https://www.idealinnovations.com/careers Ideal Innovations, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer: All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
