      As a Mechanical Engineer you will work in the Fleet Services Systems Engineering team and be responsible for providing electrical engineering capability across a broad set of challenges to meet the needs of Fleet Services internal projects and the customer programmes i.e. in the COMs (Class Output Management programmes).

      Your main responsibilities as a Mechanical Engineer:

      Delivering mechanical design solutions to agreed time, cost and quality to meet project or business milestones

      Conducting a wide range of activities including feasibility studies, research, design, development and post design services, involving the full Engineering Lifecycle

      Drafting, vetting and editing technical reports or other documents to ensure that technical findings can be successfully communicated with recipients

      Ensuring adequate integration with other engineering functions involved with a particular task or programme of work

      Liaising with MOD establishments, test facilities, sub-contractors and customers to satisfy the needs of project or the business

      When appropriate, supervising less experienced colleagues assigned for training to assist in the development of their knowledge and skills

      Promoting the skill areas capabilities and department to attract new work

      Your skills and qualifications:

      -Degree in Mechanical Engineering
      -Chartered Engineer status– Ceng or working towards - desirable
      -Mechanical Engineering experience
      -Expertise in more than one of following areas: Requirements Management, Concept Studies, Systems Definition, Systems Design, Systems Integration, Design Proving, Systems Acceptance, Systems Analysis or Product Safety Management
      -Ability to act as a Technical Authority to investigate issues and create solutions within Power and Propulsion
      -Experience across multiple marine platforms is highly desirable
      -Ability to build / improve effective supplier and customer relationships
      -Ability to establish clear goals and monitor own performance and objectives
      -Understanding of the importance of continuous business improvement

      This is a full time role and will be based in our Portsmouth Naval Base. Hampshire

      This role will be paying a competitive salary depending on experience and we would be willing to offer a relocation package.
