A leading international company involved in the development of advanced turbo-generation technology for large diesel engines are looking for a Principal Engineer (Mechanical) to join their team. You will be responsible for turbocharger, turbogenerator and engine performance optimisation activities as the companies internal expert and will lead the feasibility stages to help clients understand the benefits of the technology. The main focus of the role will be to lead the technical development of the company's range of turbochargers (improving performance, reliability, and longevity) and involve developing turbomachinery specifications for new designs as well modifications to existing equipment. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a thorough understanding of turbocharged diesel engine thermodynamics and the development of optimised turbocharger solutions. An understanding of powergen applications, particularly gensets using large diesel and/or gas engines will be beneficial, and you will need to be conversant with current and emerging technologies for large vehicle performance and efficiency improvements. A good knowledge of materials selection and FEA techniques is essential.
