I'm working on software to help engineers find 3D models on the web, and I'm interested in how you typically search - *What sites do you usually use to search for models on the web? *Knowing that for professional projects, it's best to get models from a validated source and that many vendors post their models on various sites - Do you ever find it difficult to find what you need because you don't know the vendor, name of the part, model, or part number? *How often do you have to give up on a web search because you can't find what you need? Often, sometimes, never?
In my case the suppliers we work with have a repository on their website with either 3D PDFs or the part itself in various formats. Some websites: http://new.abb.com/products/robotics/robot-selector http://www.te.com/catalog/connectors/menu/en/17560?BML=10576 http://www.amphenol-industrial.com/index.php/literature/design-online http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/parts/supplier/Fischer-Connectors.aspx http://www.tracepartsonline.net/(S(..._CONNECTORS&Class=FISCHER_CONNECTORS&Lang=&P= http://tf3dm.com/ Hope it helps. All the best, Radu,
