We are looking for talented specialists with passion to develop their ideas Job duties will include: The Mechanical Design Engineer (MDE) is responsible for taking a product all the way from a rough idea to a product that is designed, tested, and ready for production. It is the MDE’s job to make sure our parts are competitive (against our competitors) in performance, appearance, and cost. The MDE is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the testing of any products you design to ensure that the product is as reliable as possible before it goes into production. It is the MDE’s responsibility to constantly learn and grow so that he/she is able to design new types of products so that Metro’s product line can continue to grow. Desired Experience: *Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar *Solidworks Experience (Mandatory) *Experience creating and editing part documents (M) *Experience creating and editing assembly documents (M) *Experience creating and editing drawings (M) *Experience with version control software like Solidworks PDM (+ Plus) *Experience modeling designing solid features, surface features, weldments, and sheet metal features in Solidworks (+) *Experience designing parametric models (+) *Experience calculating and estimating stress on parts and assemblies *Any background in art or industrial design is a plus (+) *Completed projects from sketch to production (+) *Hands on fabrication experience with metal is a must *Use of simple tools like bandsaws, chop saws, and grinders (M) *Ability to TIG weld is preferred but not required (+) *Background repairing, modifying and installing performance parts on cars (+) Responsibilities *Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with existing designs *Create designs for new products based on input from customers, sales team and other engineers *Create designs based on target retail costs and profit margins *Design components and assemblies in Solidworks *Perform tolerance stack ups on assembly designs *Create engineering drawings to aid in production and quality control *Work with manufacturing to ensure design for manufacturability *Work with manufacturing for product optimizations *Determine what types of testing a new part requires before it can go to production *Design and build test rigs to test parts for performance or fatigue, based on needs of project *Aid in writing assembly guides for new products for use by our assembly team *Aid in writing install guides for new products for use by our customers *Aid in writing product descriptions for new products for website *Work with customers occasionally to solve issues with products If you enjoy a relaxed working environment, love getting stuff done and are ready to grow and learn then you’ll love working at Metro.
