      Excellent opportunity for a dynamic yet detailed and inquisitive individual to join a multinational R&D team in New Product Development projects, as a Senior/Mechanical Designer, within the life sciences industry. Main responsibility lies with mechanical design and drafting, and could be involved in value engineering, cross-functional support, and lab mechanical and reliability testing.
      Role/Opportunity:
      • Design and draft functional system components as well as sub-assemblies to support the development of new products or to improve existing products
      • Seek balanced optimal design by taking into consideration influencing factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, interchangeability, ease of assembly and cost
      • Review related design output (assembly, model, and drawing) from the R&D team
      • Communicate and coordinate with other organizations affected by design development and changes such as operations, logistics, quality and suppliers etc
      • Understand and utilize industry drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M-1994)
      • Process Engineering Change Orders, practicing organized revision control using a PDM tool – SAP

      Skills/Experience:

      • At least 5years as mechanical designer in life science instrumentation or biomedical devices
      • Strong mechanical designing experience with excellent communication skills from other industries will also be considered
      • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering with good analytical skills
      • High level experience with 3D parametric solid modeling/drafting eg. Unigraphics NX
      • Familiar with manufacturing methods such as machining, stamping, molding, forming, welding, brazing, soldering and adhesive bonding
      • Ability to work in fast paced design environment with complex project attributes, involving mechanical, electrical, fluidic and optical components
      • Ability to produce completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning
      • Ability to multitask and collaborate effectively with team members
      • Occasional regional and global travel required
