I graduated from mechanical engineering design masters in 2010 and i am using SolidWorks since 2005. Still I am trying to get a permanent SolidWorks design engineer role but because of I am lacking specific experience in design area I am losing the job offers, not because of any certification.. although some companies insist on CSWA or CSWP.. CSWA will even do I think (which is nothing compared to what i have designed in the past).. I'll get my certification within 4 months.

At the moment I am working as a contractor at Airbus, technical documentation. And i am dying for becoming what i always wanted to be, a mechanical design engineer.. ahh tough times..

      Hi

I think CSWA certificate helps you at some extent by getting your preffered job. Let me share you my experience , I am using solidworks for last 5 years and cracked many model test rounds in different companies without having any certifications, but I found that in top MNC's after clearing these rounds interviewer asked me for any solidworks certification.Than I realised its importance and than I have given its exams & now I am CSWA certificate holder and its helping in building my resume strength.

      Hi,

I'm a Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) and I just got my certification last year. The SolidWorks certification is very important as it makes you stand out of the crowd but at the same time, you must have the basic technical knowledge of mechanical design to be hired. Any Solidworks project will involve some basic calculations in your head besides understanding how mechanical components assemble together is essential. So if you're not looking to work in the mechanical design field, I wouldn't recommend taking the certification as it will be useless, but if you're looking to work as a mechanical designer, then I would recommend you take the certification and search for internship where you would grasp some of the basic technical information.
