Swimming pools must be one of the weirdest things that can build from a shipping container. We have always been happy to try out such different ideas. We read about shipping container pools almost a year back. I remember that the news was about shipping container pools set up in a river so that the water in the river doesn't affect health. So we decided to build a container pool but in our home. Currently, we have a design for this. The only thing now is that we want customized containers. This shipping container company in Edmonton is the only one we know who provides customized shipping containers. If you any similar companies do comment,
This should work in theory... because the containers are air/watertight (every so often they fall off ships in bad weather and they float around for a while until they hit something else!). Would it be fixed in position (buried in the ground?). Removing the top might affect the structural integrity a bit but if you're not moving it then it shouldn't be a problem.
I wonder how this project went. I had seen a video too about the swimming pool in container thing. But I was wondering wouldn’t the water be too hot if its placed in a container made of metal through out the summer? It might need additional cooling right?
I guess it depends where you live and how strong the sun is but I think that the cooling water of that much water (sorry, don't know the technical terms!) is huge. This might be completely wrong but I think the amount of energy from the sun is roughly 1 kWatts per Square Metre. So then according to this https://elementsofheating.wordpress...-heat-a-volume-of-water-in-a-particular-time/ it takes 3.5kW to heat 100 litres of water by 30 degrees in one hour... but a shipping container is a lot more than 100 litres... more like 60,000 litres! So to raise that amount of water by 30 degrees (which is a lot, but just for example), is 2mW (if my maths is right!), which would need an area of 2,000 M2, and the shipping container is roughly 50m2 (on four exposed sides - but not all would be facing the sun).
Hah, it might be totally off in terms of maths... but hopefully is very roughly in the correct ballpark!
